All roads in April Macie's life lead to comedy. She's had an endless string of crummy jobs -- as a nanny, Hooters waitress, clown's assistant and telemarketer -- and was fired from all of them. She jokes about her promiscuous past, but also breaks down troubling double standards. The girl from Easton, Penn., has taken her overtly sexual brand of humor on the road, traveling to over 23 countries. She has performed for troops around the world, was a finalist on NBC's "Last Comic Standing", has appeared on E! Entertainment and "Access Hollywood" and is a regular guest on "The Howard Stern Show", where in 2008 she was voted the "Funniest and Hottest" comedian in America. Macie's charming knack for collecting everyday stories and translating them into humorous tales has landed her in the documentary "I Am Comic", on the Showtime special "Pauly Shore's Vegas Is My Oyster" and in the hosting role for the AVN Awards. Macie lights up the Tempe Improv Comedy Theatre stage over July 4 weekend. [less-]

This ain't your grandma's improv show -- unless your grandma has a dirty mouth. "Improv Uncensored" is an unscripted comedy show featuring skits and sketches made up on the spot, featuring some of Phoenix's funniest improvisers at their "uncensored" best. And unlike competitive comedy shows at National Comedy Theatre, "Improv Uncensored" has no rules, no ref and no "brown bag foul" -- and no one under 18 is allowed. Every game and skit is based on audience suggestions and completely improvised, so you get a different, unrehearsed show every time. [less-]

You're gonna need a bigger boat -- most likely made out of felt -- for this all-puppet production of Hollywood's first-ever summer blockbuster. "Jaws: Live, Abridged & Completely Underfunded" is a low-fi puppet parody of the iconic horror film that's jam-packed with pop culture references, ludicrous audience interactions and penny-pinching sets. The timeless tale of a small town haunted by a big shark takes on a whole new meaning when it's performed by a cast of potty-mouthed puppets -- which you can see for yourself at Phoenix's Playhouse on the Park. This fall, unlock the mystery of the longest-running show in theater history, Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap". The show has been running in London's West End without interruption since 1952 and recently celebrated its 65th anniversary. The first cast, which included Sir Richard Attenborough as Detective Sergeant Trotter, made a special request of the audience to maintain the secret identity of the killer. That request has become a tradition at the end of performances. The story takes place at Monkswell Manor, run by Mollie and Giles Ralston. They expect four guests for the night, but also receive Mr. Paravicini, who claims his car overturned in a snowdrift, and Sergeant Trotter, who informs them he has come to investigate the murder of Maureen Lyon. In her remarkable style of detail, unexpected twists and rising suspense, Christie leads the audience through a maze of intrigue, which may end in a trap. Enjoy this legendary mystery at Phoenix's Paradise Valley Baptist Church. [less-]

Isobel Lomax and Dolly Biddle are two "mature" cable-access cooking show hostesses who have hated each other for 30 years, ever since Larry Biddle dated one and married the other. When circumstances put them together on a TV show called "The Kitchen Witches", the insults are slung harder than the food! Dolly's long-suffering TV-producer son Stephen tries to keep them on track, but as long as Dolly's dressing room is one inch closer to the set than Isobel's, it's a losing battle, and the show becomes a ratings smash as Dolly and Isobel top both Martha Stewart and Jerry Springer. Watch the words and utensils fly when this food fight hits the stage at Paradise RV Resort Ballroom in Sun City. [less-]
