Happy October! Are you counting down the days until Halloween or still celebrating the dozens of Oktoberfests we have around the Valley? This weekend, several haunted houses open, Greek culture is being celebrated in Chandler, and New Belgium’s Tour de Fat takes over the streets of Tempe. Enjoy the cooler weather and cheers with a round of beers with your friends.

 

Schnepf Farms Pumpkin and Chili Party

October 4-28

Schnepf Farms offers fun fall activities like hay rides, a 4-acre corn maze, a pumpkin patch, pig races and, of course, chili. Grab party food like a burger, chili dinner or succotash and take a spin on exciting rides or the farm’s train. Fireworks light up the sky Friday and Saturday nights. Don’t forget to grab your Halloween pumpkin on your way out.

Scarizona Scaregrounds

October 5-November 3

Inside the park awaits four jaw-dropping mazes that even the bravest of souls can barely make it through. Featured on USA’s Greatest Haunts and earning itself a place on the list of Best Haunted Houses in Arizona on Yelp, this Arizona haunted house will certainly be a roller coaster ride for you. Your nightmares are all real in this realm and you can either run through and laugh with your fear or you can stay home and watch a romantic comedy. Poefest

October 5-31

Arizona Curriculum Theater returns to Downtown Phoenix with their ninth annual PoeFest celebration. The month-long schedule of events kicks off on October 5th at the historic Hotel San Carlos and runs until Halloween at the Rosson House Museum. Professional actors will bring the stories of Edgar Allan Poe to life as characters from Poe’s fictional Maison de Santé asylum.

Autumn in Arizona seems to be marked by the arrival of the State Fair. From games to petting zoos to deep fried everything, it’s an affair for the whole family.
