Kids That Rip! (KTR) is an indoor, private skate park located at1927 N. Gilbert Road in Mesa. This facility is not only a great place for young children to learn how to skate in a safe environment, but also a perfect escape from the Arizona sun for skateboarders of any age looking to cool off. KTR welcomes scooter riders as well.
KTR has five separate sections: mini-mega ramp, street course, vert ramp, bowl, and mini-ramp. Mega-ramp skating is a new form of skateboarding which has been highlighted by ESPN’s X-Games in recent years. KTR’s mini-version of this mammoth jump has a fifteen foot roll-in to a launch ramp over a fourteen foot foam pit gap. The street course section covers all the basic needs of the modern street skater. KTR’s vert ramp is one of the few in the state and stands at approximately sixteen feet at its highest and thirteen feet at its lowest. The multifaceted bowl offers a handful of hips, corners, and transfers. Lastly, three and four foot mini-ramps, connected to each other by a spine, are ideal learning new tricks for skateboarders of all ages and skill levels.
Kids That Rip! offers instructional skateboarding classes for children of all ages. In the summertime, KTR provides ten weekly camp sessions. During the off hours, visitors are welcome to skate for fifteen dollars each session. A helmet and signed waiver is required. Open sessions are offered on Thursday and Friday evenings after 7 P.M., from noon to 9 P.M. on Saturday, and from noon to 3 P.M. on Sunday.
