For three days and four nights, The Wigwam Arizona Resort will exhibit traditional Latin American music and dancing, as Bachata Addiction Productions kicks off its First Annual Phoenix Bachata Festival. From bachata and salsa dancing to zouk and kizomba music, the festival features a number of workshops and performances, including live concerts by highly acclaimed DJs and artists in the bachata genre, as well as local dance groups.

To get things rolling, festivities start Thursday night with a Latin-night-themed pre-party at The Duce in central Phoenix. The fun and games continue Friday afternoon at the resort with a day full of activities including Intro to Bachata Flow, Salsa Swag and Afromambo workshops. Urban Singer Jr. takes the stage Friday night for a live concert followed by Dominican-American bachata recording artist Melvin War, or Melvin Guerra. Saturday calls for Silky Smooth Salsa, Groovy Bachata and Flawless Spinning classes in the afternoon and a pool party with social drinking in the evening. Former Aventura band members Henry Santos and Toby Love wrap up the night, as they perform live for festivalgoers. While Sunday’s schedule does not include a performance, attendees can choose from Brazilian Zouk, Funky Salsa Partnering and World Class Bachata sessions and are invited to the Sunset Kizomba, which translates to sunset party, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Oasis Pool. The festival’s last event, “Dance ‘Till You Drop,” is literally a dance-off that rewards the last couples on the dance floor by close-time with complimentary passes for next year’s event.

The festival runs from Thursday, June 14 through Monday, June 18 at The Wigwam, 300 East Wigwam Blvd. in Litchfield Park. Tickets can be purchased online. For more information, visit
