Papago Park
Papago Park, located in Phoenix and Tempe, is a hilly desert park covering 1200 acres in the Phoenix portion and 296 additional acres belong to Tempe. The park is surrounded by the cities of Phoenix, Tempe, and Scottsdale.
Papago Park is a most unique park, displaying a wide variety of desert plants including Arizona’s notable saguaro cactus. The park also boasts many distinctive geological formations as well, including the Hole in the Rock.
On site of Papago Park visitors can find the Desert Botanical Garden, the Phoenix Zoo, picnic areas, several small lakes, hiking trails, bicycle paths, a fire museum, and Hunt’s Tomb, the tomb of Arizona’s first governor, George W. P. Hunt.
The Tempe Papago Park includes baseball and softball fields, picnic ramadas, a small lake, and other features. Rolling Hills Golf Course is also within the park between its Phoenix and Tempe extremities.
