The Children’s Museum of Phoenix started out in 1998 being called the Phoenix Family Museum. It was founded and staffed by a small group of volunteers. The opportunity to upgrade the museum came 13 years later with a $10.5 million dollar bond that allowed the museum to purchase and renovate new property at the historic Monroe School.
The Museum is located at 215 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85034 at the South East corner of 7th Street and Van Buren in downtown Phoenix. Admission for museum members is free and admission for non members is $11. Children under 1 year old and senior citizens require a $10 entrance fee.
The have many exhibits that provide hours of fun and education for family outings, birthday parties and even field trips. The Museum also puts on children’s yoga classes, children’s music classes and early literacy screenings.
One of the coolest exhibits in Arizona can be found at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix. This free standing adventure is part playpen part MC Escher painting. The Climber is a freestanding playpen constructed of 50 tons of recyclable steel that stands 37 feet tall. Don’t worry parents; it is fully wrapped with safety netting. The Climber is meant to be climbed using a series of tubes and stairs. While your child is exploring see if they can find a flying bathtub, a roof top or even a recycled rocket!
No matter why you decide to visit the Children’s Museum of Phoenix you can be certain you and your children or students will have a wonderful time. Want proof to back up that statement?
