The Arizona Science Center is focused on inspiring, educating, and entertaining people regarding all things scientific. You can find the Arizona Science Center in Heritage and Science Park nestled the heart of downtown Phoenix, Arizona. The Center houses over 3oo permanent hands-on exhibits for both children and adults and is able to provide their up to 400,000 annual visitors with awesome interactive experiences.

Aside from the permanent exhibitions, The Center each year makes sure to feature a few traveling exhibitions. Along with daily demonstrations throughout the Center, the Center provides recorded shows in the Dorrance Planetarium and in the new, fifty foot tall Imax Theater. The Arizona Science Center is a non profit corporation that also provides additional extra science related services for children year long such as a summer science camp, Adult’s Night Out, thematic events, Stroller Science pre-school programs, as well as the “Science on Wheels” program.

What began in 1984 as a small, storefront exhibition has presently developed into one of the most successful cultural attractions in the state of Arizona. The Arizona Science Center has served more than three million patrons since opening its downtown Phoenix facility in 1997. The current facilities include more than 40,000 square feet of gallery space; an IMAX Theater seating 285; the modern, computerized Dorrance Planetarium seating 200; a suite of multimedia classrooms; amenities including a gift shop, food service and lunchroom; and support facilities.

Some of the permanent exhibits are Many Hands Make a Home, which explains to the viewer just how much labor and how many people are required to build a home in the Desert of the Sun. The exhibit includes a wall sized satellite photo of the Valley that you can use to point out your house on as well as other interactive aspects of home building in Phoenix.

While at the Arizona Science Center don’t overlook the music exhibits contained on the stairwell. Many people pass by them on their way from one floor to another but those that stop and listed often find them some of the most enjoyable of the center.

The Arizona Science Center offers both individual day tickets as well as year long memberships. They also offer discounts for tickets purchased by Arizona students, year long family passes for families up to 4 members and you can even purchase memberships that include access for up to six individuals at a time.
