The holiday season is in full swing. Shopping days are numbered, stress is starting to heighten and plane tickets have been purchased. But, all of this doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun over the weekend. The team found bar crawls, kid-friendly holiday events and even a few things that have nothing to do with Christmas at all!

 

Phoestivus Holiday Market

December 13 and December 20

The Phoestivus holiday markets feature locally grown and produced gifts for holiday giving from more than 150 local vendors that showcase a variety of locally grown, produced and prepared foods as well as hand-crafted gift items, jewelry and holiday decorations by local artisans. Last year more than 6,000 participants and shoppers gathered in Downtown Phoenix for these two nights of local shopping.

City Lights Movie Nights: Double Feature

Ella Enchanted: The Musical

Not every princess needs rescuing. Based on the Newbery-honor book by Gail Carson Levine, this Cinderella twist follows Ella, a princess who is given the “gift” of obedience at birth. As she grows up, the strong-willed little girl must defeat her evil stepmother, a hungry ogre, and this troublesome curse to find her own voice and live happily ever after. This charming musical adventure is the perfect fairy tale for the holiday season!

Annual Winter Wonderland Express

December 15-December 16

Hop aboard the Winter Wonderland Express Train to a snow-filled Enchanted Island with tons of fresh snow and sled riding. Visit Santa Claus at the North Pole each day and receive free hot cocoa and candy canes. Enjoy Christmas decorations, go sled riding, take pictures in a human size snow globe and play in tons of fresh snow.

Elf Academy

Saturday, December 15

Meet Jingles, Snowflake, Buttons, Tinsel, and more of the North Pole’s friendliest elves as they lead you through a variety of workshop’s, games and activities to help you earn your official Elf certificate!

Plus, Santa will have several mailboxes on site, so your letters to Santa can be written, signed, sealed, stamped and postmarked by one of his favorite elves!

Santa Wine Around and Ale Trail

This popular wine around now includes an ale trail option for beer lovers! Wine and beer aficionados can pick their poison — and their own path — while exploring the best of Scottsdale’s local wines or ales. Guests are encouraged to start at any of the participating wineries and breweries and then let their “vino instincts” or “suds senses” lead them to their next tasting destination on the wine around or ale trail.

Lasers and Liquor: Stranger Things, Pink Floyd and Cosmic Playground

Sit back, relax, look up and rock out! Listen to music from the Stranger Things soundtrack and Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon while being dazzled by the multicolored laser light show on the Dome. Climb, slide and explore in Cosmic Playground, a one-of-a-kind space-inspired experience after hours.

Christmas Parade of Lights

Bring Christmas home from Wickenburg watching beautiful illuminated parade entries in the historic downtown. Enjoy the Arizona Public Service electric cars and clowns, stagecoaches and wagons aglow, students and local organizations, classic cars and much more! Before the parade, enjoy shopping, dining or visiting local attractions. Bring a chair and setup along the street curbs.
