Featured event: The Great American BBQ & Beer Festival 2018

The 9th annual Great American Barbecue & Beer Festival returns to fill the downtown Chandler air with the sweet aroma of BBQ pork, beef, chicken and ribs.

This year will be the biggest and best year yet with expanded event zones, more than 100 exhibitors, 4 stages and over 40 Pit Masters from across the nation serving up over 20,000 lbs. of mouth-watering pork ribs, pulled pork, brisket and chicken, all paired with ice-cold beer.

Country artists Rodney Atkins, Jerrod Niemann, Jordan Davis, Georgia Chrome, Honeygirl, Ryan Sims, Russell Dickerson and Laura Walsh will be providing entertainment throughout the day.

2018 Spring Tempe Festival of the Arts

March 23-March 25

The Tempe Festival of the Arts is a well loved community event that showcases over 350 artists from around the country.  It is an urban fine art festival that features visual artists from around the country.  In addition, a section of the festival is dedicated to Cottage Arts, such as handmade seasonings, soaps, candles and sauces.  There are two stages with live music all three days, a kids interactive area, a wine tasting event and many other features that make it a festival for the entire family.

Innings Festival

March 23-March 25

Innings Festival is a three-day, outdoor music festival that is a can’t-miss celebration for baseball and music fans. The inaugural lineup includes performance by Queens of the Stone Age, Young the Giants, Chris Stapleton and Counting Crows.

Between sets, festival-goers will be able to grab food from some of the Southwest’s best bites and maybe even catch sight of the player or two.

Burger Battle 2018

Friday, March 23

At Burger Battle 2018, the best burgers of the valley will compete for the ultimate title of ‘Best Burger’. Guests have access to unlimited burgers to taste and vote alongside top-tier judges to decide which restaurant takes home the ‘People’s Choice’ and ‘Judges Choice’ awards.

Live music, lawn games, and ice cold Budweiser will add to the fun as the competition sizzles.

Cesar Millan LIVE!

Cesar Millan, original host of the “Dog Whisperer” series and star of the brand new “Cesar Millan’s Dog Nation” series on Nat Geo WILD, will reveal the secrets of happier, healthier relationships between humans and their beloved canines in his exciting live show that has delighted audiences all over the world. Cesar will share his training secrets in his funny and entertaining way. Audiences will have to opportunity to see Cesar in action as he demonstrates his incredible training techniques with multiple dogs from local rescues, live on stage!

WordPlay Cafe: Story Slam

In partnership with Creative Catalysts, this open mic night at the Mesa Arts Center provides a platform for community members to become storytellers, poets and musicians. Show up, put your name on the list and be prepared to perform…or just grab a seat in the audience to watch. This month’s theme is Story Slam.

Arizona Dragon Boat Festival

March 24-March 25

Experience the sport of dragon boating at Tempe Town Lake. Originating from China, the sport features teams competing side-by-side by paddling on long and narrow boats. It is one of mankind’s oldest organized competitions and is a great spectacle to see. There will also be live Asian and Pacific inspired talented entertainment, children’s activities and food and drink vendors.

Italian Festival

March 24-March 25

The Italian Festival brings Italian culture, food, fashion and more to Scottsdale for its biggest year yet. With over 15,000 visitors last year, the Italian Festival is now at the Civic Center Mall to accommodate the growing crowds with more vendors and entertainment than ever before! The event features everything from live music to unique, hand-crafted Italian items. There will be wine tasting, authentic Italian cuisine and performing artists from Italy.

Flavors of the West 2018

The community will experience a good day of fun, food, music and experiences only available at Flavors of the West.

The event does so much more than raise awareness for the local West Valley food scene. Each year, Flavors of the West selects a local charity partner to receive the event’s proceeds. In 2018, the spotlight is on The Honey Foundation, a local charity focused on kindness.
