All American Holiday

July 4
Williams

Vintage Baseball, KCBS-sanctioned BBQ, cowboy Railhead Shoot and a traditional hometown parade – Williams, Arizona celebrates an “All American Holiday” this 4th of July. This small mountain community in the cool pines of Northern Arizona welcomes you to a weekend full of “hometown” activities for the whole family.

The Cowboy Shooters Association brings their authentic cowboy Railhead Shoot to Williams. Taking place at the Williams shooting range north of town on Highway 64 a variety of activities such as Wild Bunch Match, Long Range, Speed Events, Shooting School, Top Gun, Team Shoots, Couples Shoot and Costume Contests have all been planned. After an evening on the range, stop by the Saturday Night Dinner and Dance hosted at The Wild West Junction, 321 East Route 66.

The smell of BBQ will be in the air as the Williams Main Street Association and Special Olympics of Arizona present the Northern Arizona BBQ Festival July 3rd & 4th. This KCBS sanctioned BBQ contest will see over 25 professional BBQ teams from all over the Southwest vying for $10,000 in prize money. Vendors, a beer garden and live entertainment will all take place during the contest for everyone’s enjoyment.

Celebrating 101 years of 4th of July parades in Williams, this is one of the largest parades in Northern Arizona and is a regional favorite that draws many entries and spectators. Starting at 6pm on July 4th the parade route travels Historic Route 66 through town. Parade Grand Marshal, Miss Williams Route 66 Crystal Heiser will be representing this Main Street America community as part of her reign.

The Arizona Vintage Baseball League from Phoenix replays the all American pasttime game of baseball like it was played in the 1860’s, complete with vintage uniforms, rules and equipment. A special exhibition game will take place at 7:30pm at Cureton Park following the parade. The town BBQ sponsored by the Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs of Williams will provide a delicious summer BBQ prior to the game at 7pm.
It’s Time To Get Fired Up! Steam is back at Grand Canyon Railway.

Fueled by waste vegetable oil (WVO), driven by an iron will, powered by ingenuity. We’re taking steam power into the 21st century while preserving our historic trains and the environment through which they run.
