The entire show is staged as a fictional 1980s TV variety program, “One More Time” based on the premise of a legendary performer reprising his or her act. Chuck Carson is featured as the show’s host and Lynn Roberts portrays Red Skelton. Many of Red’s characters will be fully costumed. The lineup includes, Gertrude and Heathcliff (Seagulls) Sheriff Deadeye, Junior – the mean liddle kid, Clem Kadiddlehopper, San Fernando Red, Willie Lump Lump and Freddie the Freeloader.
The show host uses a prop notebook with the title “One More Time” on the front cover. He reads various biographical facts about Red during the production, providing the audience an opportunity to learn more about America’s Clown.
Included in the two act production is an additional guest star, Jan Sandwich performing her tribute to Debbie Reynolds as well as an additional fun filled comedic piece as the infamous “bag lady” from Laugh IN. It was Red who discovered actress/vocalist Ann Margaret and Jan will be introduced as Red’s newest talent discovery. All musical backgrounds and sound effects are on a CD.
Some of Red’s characters interact with the TV host and Act Two kicks off with Sheriff Deadeye involving the audience in his rendition of “Ghost Riders In The Sky”.
The title Red Sails into the Sunset refers to the legendary comedian returning for one last performance. A fond farewell to all his fans.
