“Clay is one of the oldest art materials known to humanity, used for both utilitarian purposes and creative expression. It has recorded the life of prehistoric civilizations, reconstructing the lives of ancient mankind for archeologists and historians. Pottery from Greece, Africa, Asia and the indigenous societies of the Americas inspire us with their sophistication, decoration, beauty, and the stories they unfold.” Peter Held, curator of ceramics for the ASU Art Museum and Ceramic Research Center
This Night Gallery exhibition includes the best of ceramic sculptures and expressive one-of-a-kind functional ceramic pottery. View the work of participating local artists and plan your upcoming studio tour, or just familiarize yourself with the abundant talent of our local area artists.
