More than 375 award-winning artists from around the country and 200,000 patrons flock to Historic Mill Avenue each year for the biannual Tempe Festival of the Arts. One of the most prestigious and anticipated open-air art events in the Southwest, the Tempe Festival of the Arts has set a standard for quality and variety for almost 50 years.
The event has become an attraction beyond the art community, with a loyal following for its featured programming that includes a local and regional entertainment lineup, special exhibitions, a food and snack playground, beer and wine gardens, chalk art, kids programming and more! This art festival transforms the already charming Downtown Tempe into a three-day celebration of art and community. Participating artists are selected by a rigorous jury process and exhibit a range of work, including painting, sculpture, drawing, ceramics, glass, fiber, wood, photography, mixed media and more.
The festival is considered by artists, art collectors, and art fair fans to be a must-attend event, and Downtown Tempe itself has long been regarded as one Arizona’s most unique artist communities and a downtown known for its excellent restaurants, bars and eclectic shops, and close proximity to the refreshing Tempe Town Lake and breathtaking views from the top of A Mountain. Together, the festival and community attract enthusiastic attention, top artists and international visitors to its vibrant location.
