From the Cheap Seats –
Arizona State Sun Devils – Crackin’ the top 25
After a couple more impressive victories the Sun Devils have finally gotten some national recognition by being ranked number 24 in the country. Their play has reflected this and merits that ranking. But this is going to be a true test this weekend against the number two Oregon Ducks at home in Tempe.
This game will be one of the barometers on this team and where this new coach has them. In the past when ASU has broken into the top 25 it never failed that the players seem to let it go to their heads and read too many local press clippings about how good people thought they were and that was like a death blow.
Soon after the ranking ASU would inevitably lose to a team they should have lost to drop out of the rankings for good but like I said we will see where coach has them this season and how well his program has been indoctrinated into the players mindsets.
The Sun Devils have showed some extremely good speed from the running backs and receivers and it appears that they have bounced back from their earlier losses. But we are barely at the halfway point of the season and a lot can happen. I’m hoping to see the Sun Devils fans also embrace this team because in the past they were slow in filling the stands and this always angered me.
As I said before I have never been a big ASU fan but the fans were one of the main reasons because the never stuck with the team through thick and thin in this game against Oregon will probably be the biggest game of the season and the team needs the fans to show up and be loud. You can bet Oregon will travel well and bring a lot of fans with them.
The Sun Devils seem to be playing the best ball of the season and they will need that in order to get a W this Saturday. The biggest test will come on the Arizona State defense to try and keep Oregon and check because the Ducks are currently averaging 53 points a game so the Sun Devils have their work cut out for them.
So turn out to be allowed ASU fans, please don’t be those wishy-washy fans that only show up when things are going well. It’s important that you be there.
Tell me what you think about the article or ASU and again this Saturday by leaving a comment below. And once again I appreciate your continued support.
