Rulers of the Prehistoric Skies

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it’s a Pterosaur!!!!
From the size of a sparrow to the size of an airplane meet the flying reptiles from Earth’s distant past as they soar into the Arizona Museum of Natural History. The exhibition “Rulers of the Prehistoric Skies” opens on February 4th, 2012. Pterosaurs were the coolest things that were ever in the air; and they were the first vertebrates to fly. They did it long before birds and bats. And in terms of size, they pushed the envelope with Quetzalcoatlus. AzMNH is in the process of purchasing a replica skeleton of this magnificent beast with a 39 foot wingspan! “Rulers of the Prehistoric Skies,” is part of Mesa Arts and Cultural Mesa Takes Flight initiative and will also explore the evolution of flight from insects, the true first flyers to birds and bats.
February Listing – Arizona Museum of Natural History, 53 North Macdonald Street, Mesa, Arizona 85201, 480-644-3553.
