It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We are halfway through Hanukkah and the weather calls for sweaters and scarves. We have plenty of fun events this weekend, including arts festivals, holiday shows and a 12k race. Grab your hot chocolate and mark these down in your calendar.

 

Lights of the World Lantern Festival

December 6-February 3

Lights of the World is a unique international lantern arts festival that combines the age-old Chinese tradition of lantern festivals with modern cutting-edge technology and lights. The Lights of the World lantern displays extend from 18 to 60 feet, showcasing features of different cultures and civilizations around the globe.

Phoenix Festival of the Arts

Phoenix Center for the Arts is proud to present the seventh annual event, featuring more than 150 art and food vendors.

The Phoenix Mural Project, a hands-on community art project organized by acclaimed local muralist Hugo Medina, is a signature component of the festival, allowing community members to paint and create alongside professional local artists.

Cirque Holiday Spectacular

A Christmas Adventure at Verde Canyon Railroad

Let your imagination take flight on a magical journey to the North Pole aboard Verde Canyon Railroad.

At the magical North Pole, passengers will see creatively decorated buildings featuring Santa’s Workshop, Mrs. Claus’ Bakeshop, a coal mine, Elf School and the Ugly Sweater Factory among others.

Grapes on the Grotto Holiday Wine Festival

Arizona Center and the Willcox Wine Country have teamed up to present Grapes on the Grotto, a new holiday wine festival in the heart of downtown Phoenix. Guests can sample award-winning Willcox and other Arizona wines; find unique holiday gifts at over 40 art, craft and specialty vendors; enjoy live music from local musicians; and dine at the festival bistro or one of the outstanding Arizona Center restaurants.

20th Annual Fantasy of Lights Boat Parade

The father of five, who is known for his dry observations and quirky mimicking of those around him, will stop in Phoenix on his Fixer Upper Tour.

His material is often about fatherhood, observations, laziness and food. He is also regarded as a “clean” comic, using little profanity in his routines.

12K’s of Christmas

This unique family festival celebrates health, fitness and the joy of Christmas, while supporting local animal rescue groups. The event includes a 12k run, 6k run/walk and a 1.2k Santa “Sled Run,” plus a Christmas Bazaar, Santa’s Pet Village with pet adoptions and live Christmas entertainment in the park and along the race course.
