The Arizona State Legislature is made up of two separate bodies of elected representatives. The first body is the Arizona State Senate which has 30 members and the second body is the Arizona State House of Representatives which has 60 elected members.
Serving two-year terms, both Senators and Representatives are subject to term limits. Members may only serve four consecutive terms (or eight years) in each house. Once serving the limit, former members are re-eligible for election after 2 years. Members who are term-limited in one house frequently seek and obtain election to the other house.
The legislature historically met in the Arizona State Capitol building in Phoenix but recently has been moved to other buildings on the capitol grounds.
