The Arizona State House of Representatives is made up of 60 members elected from across the state. Each House member serves for a two year term with a maximum uninterrupted term limit of four terms, which is equal to eight years. There are thirty districts across the state of Arizona and each district is represented by two members of the House.
In addition to presiding over the body, the Speaker is also the chief leadership position, and controls the flow of legislation and committee assignments. Other House leaders, such as the majority and minority leaders, are elected by their respective party caucuses relative to their party’s strength in the chamber.
