Family owned and operated, Art of Merlot keeps it chill. You can join one of the classes on their calendar or book the space for your own private event. Visit their website to see what classes are being offered. This month you can learn how to paint your pet or just go with the flow and choose your own subject matter. Each class as a master painter to guide you through your vision and help you realize your imagination. Classes start at $35 and you can book online.

The Painters Lounge

Hanging out on Roosevelt Row in the heart of the arts district is The Painter’s Lounge. But don’t worry about parking. There’s free parking in the garage by their location. This place boasts a real artist studio feel with high ceilings and enough space to not feel squished by your neighbors. Choose from a veritable feast of painting themes like “My Smart Frog” or “January Sunset.” Or book the whole place for a private party or corporate event. The Painters Lounge is BYOB and you can also bring in whatever snacks you wish — a good deal when you’re looking to have fun on a budget. Make sure to book in advance on their website. The Brush Bar

Nestled in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, The Brush Bar proclaims to host the most creative night out in Scottsdale. If you’re looking for a fun ladies night or want to do something a little different with your employees, The Brush Bar will meet all your needs. They provide all you need including canvases, paints, and brushes. The first drink is also included in the price. This hot spot is by reservation only so make sure to call and book in advance. Class cost ranges from $25-$50 depending on the class.

Painting with a Twist

Just south of ASU, is Painting with a Twist. All ages are welcome to this studio, but only the “big kids” can order drinks. Classes are open so you don’t need to worry about booking for a large party. Most classes are two hours and they focus on a theme. There’s so much to choose from– learn to paint majestic landscapes or embrace your inner Van Gogh. Coming up in January is “A Paris Sunset” (Jan. 8, 7-9 pm) and “Intergalactic Jelly” (Jan. 16, 7-9 pm). And those are just a couple of the fun themes for this month. Two-hour classes are $35. More than just a painting studio, Pinspiration lets you get crafty with the latest DIY projects and trends. You can paint and sip or try your hand at wood-working with cute signs and boxes. Or get glazing with a ceramic project. Pinspiration lists all the possibilities on their website. Once you choose the craft you want, make a reservation. They provide you with all the materials you need to make a Pintrest-worthy tchotchke. Plus they serve both food and drinks. Pricing depends on the type of project you sign up for.
